More about Mary....
Her studies began at the University of Minnesota where she immersed herself in education and coaching through kinesiology, physiology, Shakespeare, cadaver work and amazing runs on the River road. Onward to children, teaching and coaching at the high school level and many sweaty years training and teaching group fitness at the YMCA, Lifetime, Calhoun Beach Club, NWAC, The Marsh and NETA. Perhaps you took her funk or Step class in the 80’s or 90’s?? She is a 1000+ hours RYT through Yoga Alliance, and certified in Spin, Body Pump, Pilates, Kettle Bells, Yoga Booty Ballet, Bikram Yoga, Baron Baptiste Yoga and a boring braggy list of things you never heard of! She currently owns and teaches at the first hot yoga studio in Minnesota (yogamn), trains instructors for NETA, and teaches the 8-week Moment by Moment Mindfulness class at the wonderful Yoga Center of Minneapolis. She also teaches yearly at the world-renowned Omega Institute. She has trained athletes, skied countless ski marathons, ran in 10+ marathons and 1/2 iron (wo)mans and every distance below that. Her journey to mindfulness began with a trip to The Raj in SE Iowa to experience the famous Pancha Karma spring cleansing. That lead to intense study and interest in the incredibly transformative Transcendental Meditation. In search of something more accessible to her family and vast range of students, Mary stumbled upon MBSR offered at the Omega Institute and has since studied MBSR with Jon Kabat Zinn, Saki Santarelli, Florence Melo-Meyer, Common Ground Meditation Center, Minneapolis Zen Center, The Marsh and The Meditation Center.
Mary’s Moment by Moment Mindfulness classes are designed to give you a buffet of delicious options so your wonderful, capable mind, body and spirit can live life on your wonderful, capable terms. You…only better. We are all different, so a variety of tools are introduced, experienced and practiced each week. Gentle movement, noble walking, heartfelt readings, breathing, laughter, shaking, non-violent communication, active listening, and lovely guided mediations of iconic verbiage (mountain, loving-kindness, body scan, yoga nidra) are all incorporated so you come away with an abundance of tools to lower stress and increase joy in your life. Come see!! PS: She adores her hot husband, her kids and their spouses, her grandkids, being outside, Dunn Bros lattes, reading, buying and donating to thrift stores, church, eating protein and greens and all things chocolate.
